April is Community College Month, a basic education campaign coordinated by the Association of Community College Administrators to raise awareness of the economic, academic, and equity benefits of attending community college. In this special time, Waubonnee Community College is pleased to announce its new mission statement:
Waubonsee Community College provides exceptional learning through an accessible, equitable, and innovative education. We are committed to enriching the lives of our students, employees, and community by working together to create opportunities to discover new passions, share knowledge, and embrace diversity.
Waubonnee is proud to be a public community college and more. The college is a vital center for the community and has adopted a new mission statement that reflects its rich partnership with students, families, employees and community members of the college district.
The new mission statement is the result of a collaborative effort developed by a strong variety of stakeholders. The college conducted a comprehensive review of its previous mission statement to capture the renewed purpose of the college. This review included investigative feedback from various stakeholder groups, including students, employees, community members, employers, and the Waubonee Community College Board of Trustees.
The Waubonse Board of Directors approved the new mission statement as it reflects how the college uniquely serves the needs of our community and is supported by the college’s core values to deliver quality, value, innovation, service and accessibility to the community.
“We look forward to sharing this new mission statement with the wider community during Community College Month and beyond,” Dr. Christine Sobek, president of Waubonee Community College, said in a press release.
