On February 9, 2022, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) – a government agency that oversees legal immigration to the United States – announced the agency’s new mission statement: “The USCIS upholds America’s promise as a nation of welcome and opportunity with fairness, integrity, and respect for all those we serve.
In 2021, USCIS management allowed employees to submit words that they felt best exemplified the agency’s work. The new mission statement reflects these comments from the workforce, the priorities of President Joe Biden’s administration, and USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou’s vision for an inclusive and accessible agency.
“At its core, USCIS is about making decisions to families, businesses, workers, and those seeking refuge in our country on their petitions, petitions, applications, and appeals. This new mission statement reflects the inclusiveness of our country and this agency,” USCIS Director Jaddou said in the announcement.
“The United States is and will remain a welcoming nation that welcomes people from around the world seeking family reunification, employment or career opportunities, and humanitarian protection,” added USCIS Director Jaddou. To learn more about USCIS, visit www.uscis.gov.
