Monday marks the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the movie “Jerry Maguire”, the life story of a sports agent, but really just the life story. Starring Tom Cruise, Renee Zellweger, Cuba Gooding Jr., Regina King, Kelly Preston, Jay Mohr and Jerry O’Connell, the film grossed $ 273 million worldwide.
Tom Cruise won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, Cuba Gooding Jr. won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and “Show Me The Money!” is part of the cinematic tradition of all time.
Obsessed with the movie, I bought some movie props, a Rod Tidwell jersey produced that year, and bought a copy of the mission statement Jerry wrote to his agency. The mission statement wasn’t just something that popped up in chunks in the movie, it was actually written entirely by director Cameron Crowe.
On the 25th anniversary, I asked Crowe if I had permission to release the document to the masses and luckily he agreed.
Please take advantage of Jerry Maguire’s full mission statement sent to Sports Management International employees.
